Chapter GPA:
3.28
Brothers with a 4.0
In our chapter we take our academics very seriously. The Rho chapter, as a member of our general fraternity's Men of Principle program, holds its members and pledges to achieve and maintain a minimum of a 2.65/4.0, and the members of our executive board must maintain a 2.85/4.0.
As a chapter, we strive to hold ourselves above the all-fraternity average, as well as the all men's average. Funded by our chapter are certain academic incentive programs laid out by the Scholarship Chairman. These include gift certificates for getting a 4.0, recognition in front of the whole chapter of a 0.3 increase in GPA between quarters, as well as a pairing program, whereby members of the house are paired off by major/school. Each of these pairs studies/works together on a weekly basis to encourage each other to do well in classes. At the end of each quarter, the pair with the highest combined GPA will receive a gift certificate.
During the fall quarter, we offer a $1000 scholarship to a freshman that demonstrates an outstanding academic history along with a well-rounded background. Some past winners have studied in an exchange program to Argentina, carried health supplies into Afghanistan, and have been national merit scholars.
Our conference room on the first floor provides a great place for brothers to study without the distractions in their room. Most weeknights there will be a few Beta's there to study for the next day's midterm or to finish up a problem set. Aside from reference books and used textbooks, this room also houses our test files, which are a great resource for test preparation. The best way to find help, though, is to find one of the many older brothers who have volunteered to tutor the subject; it is always easy to find someone willing to help.
